MANDALA!!!

Whats a Mandala?

Privet everyone!
Lets start with a joke:

Q. What did the teen paint swatch say to the mum paint swatch?
A. DON'T USE THAT TONE WITH ME!!

Ahh that one of my favorites!
Get it? Don't use that tone... BECAUSE THERE PAINT SWATCHES HAHAHA!!!

Anyway, moving on from that, i wanted to tell you about the wonderful world of Mandala's.

Mandala's are a piece of art that can represent how you feel. All Mandalas can be different, all to express how the artist is feeling right then and there.

I made one in our back yard! And i just let my mind, my hands, my body, all let it do what it wants. I listened to my audio book and just relaxed.

So, as a challenge for you, try and just relax, breath, read, and make something beautiful!

Have a happy healthy day :)

My Morphed Animal

My Morphed Animal 🦌🐇🦓 🐻

Kon'nichiwa everyone!
How is everyone? Tired? Hungry? Happy? Grumpy? All of the above?!
Me too hehe :)

So, as our writing task ALL week, we have been asked to make a fairy tale type story.
But... before we started writing, we had to make our MORPHED ANIMAL!
Mine was a mix of a type of Deer, and Rabbit, a Polar Bear and a Zebra (all the animals in the heading!)
I called it a Pronglar Hare!
A Pronglar Hare lives in the dry grasslands and always has a King or Queen.

My story is about two ladies (Lady Lem and Jean). Lady Lem is the rightful queen, yet Jean thinks she should be queen since Lady Lem's father (apparently) stole her place.
So they do a race to see which one should be Queen. Lady Lem works really hard because she knows what Jean is gonna do is REALLY bad.
Long story short, Jean wins the race by cheating and Lady Lem gets really worried...

My Fable

My Fable

Dia Dhuit everyone!

So, like my last blog, this one is all about FABLES!
I bet your like, "Oh man! Fables again?!" But today instead of teaching what fables are, i'm gonna tell you about a very special one (or at least the plan of one!).

So as our task for today, i planned a fable. My short story is called THE STRAWBERRY AND THE CUP.
Is there a moral lesson: YES
Short: YES, YES
Personification: YES, YES, YES

My story starts with a Strawberry and a Cup fighting over who's better. Then a book joins in on the fight. They fight for a while, till a lady comes in, she uses all of then to have a cup of tea, a snack, and a read. She thanks all of them and they are all happy :D

My moral is that everyone is different, even so, everyone is useful.
I find that this moral very important. When you have those lazy weekends, then at the end you look back an thing "JEEZ. I did nothing over the weekend" and start thinking about how you weren't useful at all. Just think about all the other days when you did SO much for your family and friends

Have a happy healthy day everyone :)

FABLES!

FABLES :D

Namaste everyone!!

FABLES!! What a wonderful type of story!!
YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT A FABLE IS?! Well, you came to the right place...

Fables are an amazing type of writing. They are short and they always include a lesson, and sometimes there are TALKING ANIMALS! Let me break it down a bit.
  • Short: a fable is normally short. It helps keep the story interesting and not boring.
  • There's always a lesson: In the wonderful world of Fables, there is always a lesson to learn.
  • Talking Animals: PERSONIFICATION. Personification play's a big part in Fables. Fables are all about the lesson as i said, why not give that lesson by talking creatures?!

Ever head of The Tortoise and the Hare; The Fox and the Grapes; The Lion and the Mouse; The Fox and the Crow? All of these amazing shorts story's, are in fact, Fables.

For example, in "The Tortoise and the Hare" The Tortoise was so sad at the mean words said by the Hare, he challenged the Hare to a race. The race stared and the Hare was so far ahead the he sat, and eventually fell asleep. After sleeping for a fair amount to time, he woke up. Though when she looked, the Tortoise was so close to the finish line, that the Hare couldn't catch up.
So, like the saying, "slow and steady, wins the race".

Long story short, Fables are a short, kind, rich story that always have a lesson.

Have a happy healthy day :)

Audio Books!

Audio Books 🎧

Guten tag everyone!

So... just before we start, have you ever listened to a Audio Book? No? Well, its a book that is read to you! That is literally so simple, yet so good!

Listening to an Audio Book is a good idea for relaxing before bedtime at night, or for when you've finished your school but you aren't allowed any more screen time :(

So, for my class's reading task this week, we were asked to listen to an Audio Book everyday and then write a personal response. My AMAZING teacher even put together an Audio Book library so that it was easy to find a book that we wanted to listen too. (Here's the LINK)

My favourite Audio Book was The Paper Bag Princess, which is a classic princess meets prince story until a dragon smashes her castle and burns all her clothes - and then she becomes a princess dressed in a paper bag! The princess ends up tricking the dragon into falling asleep, calls the prince a bum (yes, thats right, she calls him a BUM!!!) and lives happily ever after on her own. Thats girl power!!!!

I really liked the story because the princess is the hero and she realised that she didn't need a guy for her to be a princess and that she could become queen on her own. I highly recommend this book for anyone aged 6+ and people who like saying the word bum!!!!!

Have a happy healthy day :)

Lockdown Highlights

Lockdown Highlights 🎇

Ciao everyone! Anyone want any Coffee? Tea? A blanket? No? OK cool, i'll start then!

So during Lockdown I've been doing a good amount of school - like every kid (hopefully) - and I have come up with some funky stuff! Since everyone in my class has come up with some amazing things too, our teachers wanted us to make a big (ish) slide about all of our favourite Lockdown things.

I've done A LOT of baking since its one of my favourite hobbies. And well... you'll click through the slideshow to see my favourite master piece! (A sneaky hint: it start's with LOLLY and ends with CAKE hehehe see if you can put THAT together hehehe)

When people talk about Online School they assume that kids think its horrible and tiring, using our brain power on a screen all day, but, there are SOME perks to it:
  1. You can do schoolwork from bed
  2. You don't need to get up so early
  3. You don't need to get dressed. STAY IN YOUR PAJAMA'S! NO ONE IS JUDGING YOU!!
  4. You can snack all day and when Mum and Dad ask why, you say "there's nothing else to do!"
(trust me, I've done them all!)

HERE'S MY SLIDESHOW SO YOU CAN SEE ALL MY FAVORITE THINGS I'VE WORKED ON

THE HOLIDAY RECAP :)

MY 2 WEEK HOLIDAY 🏖

G'day everyone!!!
Today i'm writing about MY 2 week holiday!
Me and my family didn't do much, we wanted to explore Auckland since we only just moved here. We wanted to explore the city, go to all the beaches, and just generally just hang out everywhere.
My family and I are all big explorers, we moved to London 2 years ago and before that, lived in Australia.
We did a big Camper-van trip all around the UK for two months, so you can expect a few hikes!

Because we LOVE doing that stuff, we wanted to go all around Auckland, but really we only saw lots of Parnell and Remuera and because we were going to see potential houses almost everyday, we have to move into the zone of Epsom Girls School, because my sister has decided that she really wants to go there.

I went swimming in my Nanna's pool a few times, we had a BBQ after that! It was really fun! Almost like we were doing it with all my family and friends :)

As most people have done, i had a couple picnics with my aunties and cousins. It was really nice to interact with other people! Even if we couldn't hug :(

Well... that's my 2 week holiday in a nutshell!!

Have a happy healthy day!

I played this game with one of my family members, and make an amazing game out of it!

3D ART

3D ART WITH OLIVE

Aloha everyone! So today on my blog, i'm going to be telling you about my amazing art classes.

This week as our art project we were given the task to draw some 3D drawings. I did this with my dad, we had a load of laughs!

One of the cool things about 3D is that, if you get the shadows right you can really see the drawing as if its popping out or going into the piece of paper!

SOME HELPFUL TIPS:
  • If you're ever drawing fire, NEVER give it a shadow! (because it's light itself, it can't have a shadow in real life!)
  • Always use a ruler when possible to draw straighter lines. It will give it a more real effect.
  • Pencils and erasers are ALWAYS your friends.
  • If you're having trouble seeing your picture in 3D, try taking photos from different angles.
  • 3D draw things you love, things you see everyday, and even imaginary things!
Have a happy, healthy day!

(here are the pictures that I drew)

Lolly Cake!!!

LOLLY CAKE

Selamat pagi bloggers! (That's good morning in Indonesian which I learned at my school in Melbourne!)

Today I'd like to tell you about my favourite things we did in lock down online school this week which were:
  • Sharing our home baking

Writing and baking are two of my most favourite things so I am going to share how I made lolly cake with you all so you can make it with your family to.

How to make the Best Lolly Cake on Earth!

What you will need!

Glad Wrap

1 Wooden Spoon

1 bowl

1 knife

1 pot

1/2 a can of Condensed Milk

1/2 - 2 cups of Coconut

1 pack of Malt Biscuits

1 - 1/2 bags of Pasco's Explorers lollies

100g of Butter

Method:

First, start by cutting (or breaking) your Explorers and put them in your bowl.
Once you have done, that crush your Malt Biscuits and put them in the bowl with your Explorers.
After that, put you 100g of butter and your 1/2 a can of Condensed Milk in a pot and make sure that you mix it regularly and take it off the heat once the butter is all melted.
Then pour your melted butter and Condensed Milk in the bowl with the biscuits and Explorers.
Mix together until well combined and make sure its not too wet, otherwise it will not hold in a log.
Now roll into a log and put the Coconut on a chopping board, and roll the log onto the Coconut to make a covering on it.
Once that is done, cover in Glad Wrap, put on a plate, and make room for it in the fridge!
Let it set for 3 - 5 hours and eat it for dessert with a cup of tea!

Anna Grimaldi

Anna Grimaldi (DLO)

Bonjour Bloggers! I hope you're having a great week. So, these past few weeks at my lovely new school we have been doing Literacy (which is Reading and Writing), Maths, and then there's the extra activities which includes Technology, Maori, Art, Fitness.

For example, for our Fitness we have been challenged to walk the length of NZ. That's 2090 km! Walking that far is too boring so I've been trying to roller skate my way to Invercargill.

Anyway the main reason I'm blogging today is to tell you about the Paralympic superstar, Anna Grimaldi.
Anna Grimaldi is 24 and has been to the last Paralympic Games at Rio and is at the 2021 Tokyo Paralympic's as well. Her disability is classified as T47 with a weak arm and a non-usable hand.

She has achieved many different goals. She is a spectacular Long Jumper and a great Sprinter. She won gold for New Zealand in Long Jumping 100m and 200m. The Queen gave Anna was the award of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2017 New Years Honors, for her services to athletics.

When Anna was interviewed after winning at the Rio Paralympic Games she said:
"Big championships give you so much motivation. There's so much you can do and I'm really excited for the next four years."
I chose Anna as my focus for my DLO because I look up to her. I may not love sport and athletics but she is an amazing person doing the best she can with an unusable arm and hand. I wrote this Haiku to celebrate Anna as a person as well as an Athlete.

A haiku about Anna Grimaldi

Anna Grimaldi

She's ready for the next game.

Playing basketball,

with her only sis Abby.

Limb deficiency,

is her disability.

Paralympic Games,

long jumping is her passion.

Born in Dunedin.

Parents are Tony and Di.

She likes netball too,

and played them both at high school.

Going to Tokyo,

Winning first place is a dream.

Born with a weak arm,

Does not stop her from winning.

DAFFODIL DAY!!!

Daffodil Day!

Ki Ora everyone!
So today is Daffodil Day! Daffodil Day is a day all about a charity that raises money for Cancer.
We all know someone effected by Cancer and this charity is really trying to stop that.
As most of you guys would know is that NZ is in the horrible and dreadful LOCKDOWN!
So because of that, Daffodil Day can not continue by selling flowers on the side of the road.
So... to help raise money my school is asking all kids, parents, and teachers to donate to this charity

If you would like to make some paper or egg carton daffodils, please click on the pictures in the link.
Our goal so far is to get 1000 dollars.

Come on team! We can do this!!!

🌼❁🌼❁

I made my Daffodil and put it outside my letterbox.

Synchro Swimming

Synchronized Swimming/Artistic Swimming

Hello everyone! This is my new blogging account, and as my first post, I was told to write about and share my thoughts about my favorite Olympic sport, Synchronized Swimming (now called Artistic Swimming).

I like artistic swimming because it's a nice and creative way of swimming. It's a mix of my two favorite things, swimming and dancing - if dancing in the shower counts!

I chose Artistic Swimming because it has so much HISTORY. It was invented in Germany 1891 and has been part of the Olympics since 1984. Some people just watch it because they think is funny (and I cant say that I didn't start watching it for that same reason) but now I'm interested in the creativity and how they match underwater dancing to the music.

Anyway click on this link to see my research on Artistic Swimming!
